NIU seeks 2 journalism professors


NIU's Department of Communication anticipates hiring two tenure-track faculty members effective August 16, 1999:

* Journalism news/editorial assistant professor to teach beginning and advanced courses in reporting, editing, article writing and communication law and ethics. Opportunities also to teach international communication, mass communication principles and to develop journalism courses in communication studies masters program. Ph.D, evidence of effective teaching and strong scholarly potential required. Professional experience, ability to integrate technology into teaching and to advise journalism-related student organizations and publications desirable.

* Visual communication / new technologies assistant professor to teach in and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in electronic journalism, graphics, layout and design, specialized press editing, and multimedia media production. Ph.D and evidence of strong scholarly/creative potential and effective teaching required. Opportunities to aid development of new departmentally-housed interdisciplinary center for research and teaching in interactive and digital communication technologies.
