Sigma Kappa scares up a good time for local kids

Members of the Greek community donated their time last Friday at the YMCA to volunteer for the kids of DeKalb. The YMCA held its annual Halloween Party and hundreds of children and their families came to the YMCA to have a fun time.

The kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes and made crafts and played games, all the while winning lots of candy.

They also watched a magic show and, if they were brave enough, went through a haunted house. Many of these activities were run by Greeks, some of whom chose to dress up in their Halloween costumes as well.

The event lasted from 4 to 8 p.m., with those volunteering having just as much fun as the kids.

“[It was] a great experience because we were able to interact with the kids in the community,” said Ali Osburn, a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. “They were absolutely adorable and so much fun!”

Phi Kappa Theta to host Spitalfield concert

The men of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity will host a concert featuring the band Spitalfield this Saturday. The concert will run from 6 to 11 p.m. in Cole 101.
Tickets will be available as soon as today in the King Memorial Commons, and are only $5.

All proceeds will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds and donates them to children’s hospitals around the US.

So come out, listen to great music and have a great time while helping our community.
