In defense of SA's 'dumb project'

In response to Friday’s comment on “SA’s dumb project,” I ask Ms. Li to open her mind to the needs of others.

It’s great that you have the ability to track the bus without the help of the GPS tracking system, but keep in mind incoming freshman, transfer students and the few instances when the buses are running behind schedule, especially during the winter months.

The GPS tracking system is designed to take out the guesswork of catching a bus. The monitors should be placed in the residence halls to help new students, those making a transition to a new school, and make life a little easier for those of us who have been here for a while.

They are here to help them make it to class on time and get better acquainted with the Huskie Bus Line. I myself live off campus in an area without bus shelters and the GPS tracking has eliminated prolonged waiting, now better than ever with the DeKalb winter approaching.

I do want to emphasize that I respect your opinion, but I ask you to view the project from those that live on and off campus before you label the project as “dumb” or a “waste of student’s money.”

Respectfully yours,

Robert Sorsby
Student Association Senator
