NIU teaching assistant arrested for fighting
By

A teaching assistant in the NIU educational psychology department was arrested Friday.

Litesa Wallace, 29, of Rockford, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. and charged with fighting in the city. Also arrested and given the same charges were her sister, Ivy Wallace, 21, as well as Mollie Richmond, 21, both of Chicago, and Shuntrel Tines, 32, of DeKalb.

Police arrived at Tines’ residence, 223 Augusta Ave., Friday morning and found him in a scuffle in the hallway with the three women, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department. An aluminum bat and pipe were recovered at the scene, he said.

Tines said he called the police earlier that morning after Ivy Wallace, Tines’ neighbor, overheard a phone conversation and started to bang on his door.

Tines was arguing over the phone with his girlfriend, who is Litesa’s cousin, Spangler said.

Ivy Wallace had left the building by the time police had arrived, Spangler said.
Tines also made a burglary report Sunday after returning from Chicago, he said.

Tines left DeKalb for Chicago on Saturday, but when he returned to his DeKalb residence Sunday, he found his home torn apart.

“My house was broken into, water was poured in my X-Box 360 and they stole my TV, music and movies,” Tines said.

Police are currently looking into both incidents to see if a connection can be made.
