For $1000, Huskie Stadium could be yours for the day.

That is the most up-to-date rental price, said Convocation Center director John Gordon.

The stadium is also available at an hourly rate of $100 for five hours or less, Gordon said.

DeKalb High School plays its home football games under the lights of Huskie Stadium on select Fridays during the school year. The opportunity to play in the stadium makes Game Day an even more exciting experience, said DHS athletic director Dan Jones.

“We don’t have a field with bleachers and lights,” Jones said.

DHS has thought about building its own stadium in recent years, but nothing has been brought to the table, Jones said. The school has used Huskie Stadium to play its home games since the 1980s, he said.

NIU intramural sports also hosts playoff games for football and other sports inside the stadium.

“We offer an in-house rental rate [for organizations wanting to use the stadium],” Gordon said. “If we can help them out, we’ll try to help as much as possible.”

The most costly piece for potential renters is the stadium lights. Using the lights costs $60 an hour, whether the organization is affiliated with NIU or not, Gordon said.

Costs can go up if the event takes place at night, if concessions or other venue staff are needed, or if the event is ticketed, Gordon said.
