This week on TV - '30 Rock'
By PATRICK BATTLE

Fresh off an Emmy win for Best Comedy Series, NBC’s “30 Rock,” starring creator and “Saturday Night Live” alumna Tina Fey, continues its hot streak of comedic genius.

Now in its sophomore season, the critically acclaimed show continues the story-arc of a stressed writer, Liz Lemon (Fey), dealing with the barely-sane staff of her sketch-comedy show.

Tracey Morgan’s character Tracey Jordan (a crazier, more delusional interpretation of himself) has already made this season one to remember with his extremely offbeat and consequently one-of-a-kind remarks.

In the episode “Jack Gets in the Game,” Tracey feels horrible for cheating on his wife and orders Kenneth, a shy and awkward NBC page to set things right: “Kenneth, I want you to make love to my wife. I want you to pleasure her!”

Alec Baldwin is also more hilarious than ever as the stern Jack Donaghy who, in last week’s “Greenzo” episode, learned that T.I. would be attending a party – then expressed his excitement that the Texas Instruments company (yes, the people who make the calculators) were going to be in his presence.

Kenneth, who is unaware that Tracey has falsely hyped the event up to be the party of the year, throws the party, expecting nothing but a nice, subtle gathering celebrating his birthday.

Long story short – the party is a complete disaster and somehow Tracey manages to steal the sink. In that sense, only a show this unique could grab Jerry Seinfeld out of hibernation for its season premiere.

Next week, Tracey coaches a little league team in the inner city and Liz goes out on a date with a man 17 years younger than her. Or does she? “30 Rock” is one of the reasons the writer’s strike could be a drag.

Catch “30 Rock” when it airs at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays on NBC.
