Nendick named to Groza Award watch list
NIU place-kicker Chris Nendick is in on the Lou Groza Award Preseason Watch List.
Nednick, a senior from Naperville, made the 30-player watch list after a 2006 season in which he led the MAC in scoring, was an honorable mention All-MAC selection and ranked ninth nationally with 1.54 points per game.

The list will be trimmed to three finalists Tuesday, Nov. 20, and the winner will be named Dec. 6 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.


Men’s soccer receives national recognition
The first polls are out and the NIU men’s soccer team is rated in both national-preseason polls.

Collegesoccernews.com ranks NIU at No. 26 in their 30-team poll, and SoccerTimes.com ranks the Huskies at No. 31. NIU is the highest ranked MAC team in both polls. The NIU schedule features three teams in the top 25 of each poll.

The U.S. enters as the top ranked team, and will take the pitch for their first game on Sept. 11 against North Korea.
