Weather will not close university


By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

All NIU offices are open and classes and final exams are being held as scheduled, NIU officials said Tuesday morning.

During these winter months, officials said, commuters are urged to use caution in their travels to and from campus.

The university also said it encourage all students, faculty and staff to dress appropriately for protection against seasonal cold temperatures.

For the latest information regarding weather closings at NIU's DeKalb, Hoffman Estates, and Rockford campuses, you also can call the NIU Toll Free Weather Status Hotline:

NIU\'s main priority should not be the education of the students, it should be the safety of the students. Finals should be made optional.
