Scholarship offered for students active in LGBT organizations, activities
By MICHAEL VAN DER HARST

NIU juniors or seniors for the 2008-2009 school year may be eligible for a scholarship if they have been active in any Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender organizations or activities.

Applications for the Joseph Harry Endowed Scholarship are due Friday, Feb. 1 at 4:30 p.m.

Dr. Joseph Harry, a former NIU sociology professor, created the scholarship after a 21-year career at NIU that lasted from 1977 until 1998.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, scholarly performance and academic standing, according to the application.

A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required.
