Students who missed the deadline to register to vote in DeKalb County on Feb. 5 for the Illinois primary election still have a chance to make their voice heard.

Grace period voting allows for unregistered voters to register and vote at the DeKalb County Clerk’s Office by next Tuesday. Students must present two forms of identification – at least one with a picture and another showing a local address.

If one has no formal ID with a local address, a letter sent in the mail and addressed to the student’s residence will be accepted.

The County Clerk’s Office, 110 E. Sycamore St., will be open for grace period voting Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

To ensure the opportunity for all students to vote on Super Tuesday, the NIU chapter of Students for Barack Obama will be offering rides to the County Clerk’s Office once a day on Thursday and Friday, and all day next Tuesday, Jan. 22.

For a ride, students can meet at the Holmes Student Center bus turnaround and look for the Obama sign.

A schedule of the rides is as follows:
Thursday: 1 p.m.
Friday: noon
Tuesday, Jan. 22: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m.
