Harry Potter fans can flex their creative muscles by entering a contest to name the NIU Harry Potter conference.

The conference will be held Nov. 14-16. Names should be e-mailed to niuharrypotter@yahoo.com by Jan. 25.

Mark Pietrowski, external programming coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, said there are few rules to the contest.

“You can submit as many names as you want to,” Pietrowski said. “The names don’t have to be related directly to Harry Potter, they can be related to any kind of magic or wizardry.”

The prize for the contest is a Harry Potter T-shirt, collectible figure and free entry into all conference events.

Pietrowski said the results of the contest will be posted on a Web site that will be launched soon. The link for the Web site will appear at www.niu.edu/clasep in the first week of February. People will also be able to inquire about teaching or volunteering on the Web site or through e-mail.

Pietrowski said the event will be a great opportunity for Harry Potter fans.
“It will be the most affordable Harry Potter event,” Pietrowski said . “We’re having programming for adults and teachers and for children grades 4-12.”
Pietrowski said that the contest has been creating a lot of buzz in the Harry Potter community.

“We have been getting a ton of replies already,” Pietrowski said.
