DeKalb businesses nominated for 2007 business of the year
By AMANDA PODGORNY

Eight members of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce have been nominated for business of the year in 2007.

The nomination process was open to over 500 DeKalb Chamber members.

After the nominations are received, a special committee meets to review the business based on four major categories, which are business leadership, achievements, respect within the community and involvement within the community.

Other factors that are taken into consideration are sales growth and job growth, respect by employees and customers and involvement within the community to improve lives.

“It’s not a popularity contest,” said Chuck Siebrasse, the executive director of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce. “There’s a set criteria.”

The business of the year will be named at the chamber’s annual dinner tonight.
