A letter from the online editor regarding our technical difficulties
By JUSTIN SMITH

To our users,

In today's fast-paced society, technology continually changes our lives. Most of the time, this change is for the better.

Other times, however, technology can present more challenges than solutions.

Such was the case this week when you may have noticed Northern Star Online was not updated in a timely manner.

An internal computer problem prevented us from accessing most of our critical systems, including those that allow us to maintain the site.

Though readers did not notice, the production of the print product also was affected, but we were able to publish the paper.

After purchasing new hardware, we have fixed the problem and are taking steps to ensure such a situation does not occur in the future.

I personally apologize to users of Northern Star Online who may have been inconvenienced by the issue.

Additionally, all articles from the week are available both on the front pages of each section and in our archives, which have been improved to ensure better searchability.

This upcoming week presents an exciting time for news, when voters in Illinois will have their say Tuesday in deciding the next president, when they vote in the state's primary.

Look to the Northern Star Online and print editions for all the latest news. Thank you for choosing us as your source for news affecting NIU and DeKalb.

Best,

Justin Smith
Editor, northernstar.info
