A 2005 NIU graduate was killed in Iraq on Thursday.

First Lieutenant David Schultz of the 82nd Airbone Division was killed by indirect fire, the division said.

While at NIU, Schultz was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, ROTC and the Residence Hall Association, according to a close friend.

He is survived by his wife Sabrina and child. They reside in Fort Bragg, N.C., where Schultz was based. Schultz is also survived by his parents, David and Majorie Schultz, who live in Illinois.
