Dryer fire reported at Oakwood Avenue
By ALAN EDRINN

A dryer fire caused an unknown amount of damage Monday afternoon to a house in the 1400 block of Oakwood Ave.

Around noon, the DeKalb Fire Department was called to 1435 Oakwood Ave. for a report of smoke in the crawl space. The smoke was found to be coming from a dryer fire in the residence and a small extension of the fire went into the wall where the vent connected, said DeKalb Fire Chief Lanny Russel at the scene.

The dryer was disconnected and the fire was extinguished. Some smoke damage was found, Russel said.

No injuries were reported, and Russel did not have estimates on the amount of damage at the time.
