In anticipation of an excessive snowfall, the city of DeKalb is reminding residents not to park on all public streets and to keep snow routes in mind.

“The weather service is predicting snowfall accumulation in the five to seven inch range beginning Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning,” said Rick Monas,
Director of Public Works, in a recent press release.

A snow emergency is being declared, requiring residents not to park within designated snow routes and public streets until the streets have been cleared and the snow storm subsides, Monas said.

Residents who do not comply with the seasonal parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed by the DeKalb Police Department.

Those in violation of this ordinance will be fined between $75 and $150.
