Campus Climate Survey opens today

The Campus Climate Survey will open to all students beginning today.

All NIU students and staff should receive an e-mail today that will invite them to take the survey, which is being conducted by a third party.

The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete with results being published this fall.

'Black on the Block: The Politics of Race and Class in the City' takes place tonight

A speech, “Black on the Block: The Politics of Race and Class in the City” will take place tonight in the Holmes Student Center, Capital Room.

Mary Pattillo, a Northwestern University sociologist, will speak beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by the Center for Black Studies and the Graduate Colloquium Committee.


Ally Award nominations begin today


Nominations for the annual Ally Awards are open beginning today.

The Presidential Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity as well as the LGBT Resource Center and Studies Program will recognize students, organizations and departments who have made positive contributions on behalf of the LGBT community.

Nomination forms are available at http://www.niu.edu/LGBT/resourcecenter/awards/ally.shtml and are due at 4:30 p.m. March 7.

A second award, the Eychaner Award for Contributions to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Community, sponsored by Prism, is also open for nominations, with the deadline at 4:30 p.m. March 21.


CAB, SA hold informational meeting for positions


Students interested in running for a position on the Campus Activies Board or the Student Association are required to attend one of two informational meetings, with the first one being tonight at 7 p.m. in Campus Life Building, Room 150.

A second informational meeting will take place on Wednesday.
