Basketball schedule is in: Women to Cancun, Men to Notre Dame

The 2007-2008 NIU men’s basketball schedule features six teams that advanced to the postseason last season.

The highlight of those matchups is a Nov. 17 against Southern Illinois in Carbondale, IL. Last season, the Salukis made the Sweet 16.

The Huskies open the season at the BTI Tip-Off Tourney, hosted by Northern Iowa, from Nov. 9-11 in Cedar Falls, Iowa and then return for their home opener against Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.

NIU then travels east to face 2007 NCAA Tournament participant Notre Dame on Dec 8. The Huskies open the conference season against Western Michigan on Jan. 5 in Kalamazoo, Mich. and welcome the Toledo Rockets for the MAC home opener on Jan. 13.

Women’s basketball schedule features a tropical trip

The highlight of the NIU women’s basketball team is an early trip to Cancun, Mexico the week of Thanksgiving.

NIU opens the Caribbean Challenge against Michigan State before facing Tulane on Thanksgiving Day.

Two of the first three games of the season are at home as the Huskies take on Bradley on Nov. 9. After traveling to face Chicago State, NIU hosts to Western Illinois.

The initial MAC meeting of the year will take place at Eastern Michigan while the first home MAC contest is slated for Jan. 12 against Ball State.
