“We’re just happy to be home in a place where we are comfortable,” NIU head coach Carol Owens said. “The kids are coming off a game where we didn’t play our best. The kids are kind of mad about that and we can’t wait to play our next game.”


KSU

Head coach Bob Lindsay did not return any of the Northern Star’s phone calls. However, in a press release after the Golden Flashes last game, Lindsay said: “We’ve got a lot of young players playing. We had a five-point lead and we couldn’t finish it out. We’ve been in overtime games, but it’s a lot of minutes.”

NIU

The Huskies suffered an 85-65 road loss Saturday to defending MAC Champion Bowling Green. Guard Shari’ Welton led the way for NIU with 17 points.

KSU

The Golden Flashes fell 87-70 in overtime at home to Central Michigan Saturday. KSU bounced back from a 12–point deficit in the second half. However, it did not have enough fuel in the tank to overcome 12 Chippewa 3-pointers.

Forward Whitney Lowe is averaging 15.6 points in MAC play for the Huskies.

KSU

Ashley Harkins averages 11.6 points for the Golden Flashes. The junior averages 13 points a game in conference play.

“She’s a really good athlete,” Owens said. “She’s very aggressive offensively and defensively.”


Vital Stat:

NIU

The Huskies are looking to extend a four-game home winning streak. They will have a good chance of doing so, as their next two meetings are at the Convocation Center.

KSU

Kent State leads the all-time series over NIU 14-8. However, the Huskies topped the Golden Flashes 72-68 in the quarterfinals of the 2007 MAC Women’s Basketball Tournament.
