“This Side of Paradise; NIU’s Tribute to Romantic Comedy” will open tonight at the Corner Theatre of the Stevens Building as part of the NIU School of Theatre and Dance Studio Series.
The production is “a tribute to love and Paris, or going to Paris to find love,” according to the press release.
Tickets are available at the door for $5 and begins at 7:30 p.m.
“A Tribute to Black Women” will take place tonight in the Duke Ellington Ballroom of the Holmes Student Center.
The event will highlight contributions and experiences of African women in the struggle for liberation, according to the press release.

NIU students are invited to attend a newly formed support group to deal with depression, bipolar disorders and other mental health issues.
The first meeting for “Group Hope & DBSA” is scheduled for this Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 306 of the Holmes Student Center.
Group Hope is a service of the Mental Health Association of Rock River Valley, according to the press release.

Deborah Meier, an adjunct professor at New York University’s school of education will be at NIU this Monday, Feb. 18 to speak on public education.
“Education, Democracy and the Economy” will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center ballroom.
Meier is a senior scholar and educational activist and will discuss the aims of public education, myths about education and the economy and how education plays the role of a business.
The event is sponsored in part by the NIU College of Education. A question and answer session will take place following the speech.
