Governor orders flags lowered to half-staff
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich today ordered all state facilities to lower U.S. and Illinois state flags to half staff following the Cole Hall shootings on campus.

Blagojevich will travel to the campus today to meet with NIU officials and emergency responders, said a press release from the governor’s office.

Blagojevich declared a state of emergency yesterday. The declaration provides resources from the governor’s disaster relief fund for local government agencies to reimburse them for the expenses incurred in responding to the shooting.

How long will the flag be flown at half-staff?
