Man arrested after allegedly fleeing police
By ALAN EDRINN

A DeKalb man who had previously jumped out of a second story window to evade police was arrested Wednesday night, according to a police report.

At 8:44 p.m. Wednesday, DeKalb Police saw Tony Martin, 27, of DeKalb riding in a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Annie Glidden Road. The officer knew Martin had an active warrant for his arrest and made contact with him when the car pulled into Casey’s General Store parking lot, 1001 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Martin tried to run from police as he was being arrested and struggled with police while being handcuffed. While searching Martin, police found a bag of cannabis, and a bag of suspected cocaine fell out of his pant leg during the struggle.

Martin had previously fled from police during a traffic stop Nov. 11 in a foot and vehicle chase, which ended with Martin jumping out of a second story window to escape being arrested. A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest.

Two police officers received minor injuries from the struggle and did not require medical attention. Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department said the injuries consisted of minor scrapes.

Martin is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis and two counts of aggravated resisting a police officer. He was also arrested for a parole warrant and one state warrant for aggravated fleeing to elude. Martin was transported to DeKalb County Jail, pending bond.

The driver of the vehicle, Michelle Bergman, 39, of Stillman Valley was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
