Who will win the World Series? |

The indescribable occurred on Feb. 14. We are all trying to make sense of the situation and what has become our reality. Besides mourning the loss of five students and figuring out how to go about our daily lives, we need to remember that we also failed that day. As students, professors, administration, friends and family, we failed Steven Kazmierczak ... we failed to recognize, help and possibly prevent. This is why we have six Huskies instead of just five.
We all need to be angered. We need to find someone or something to blame. But we also need to see how society can allow such tragedies to become more and more common. Why do some primary and secondary schools have metal detectors and security personnel but university campuses seem to be lacking preventative security measures? No one likes to believe that this has become our reality; but hasn’t it?
And what is to become of Cole Hall? Is tearing it down the best idea? Cole Hall is now sacred ground. It should become an area where we can all pay tribute to the students whose lives ended too short; a permanent memorial to those involved. It can be a place to recognize the gift of life we all take advantage of, a place to ponder why we are here and others tragically are not.
