To make for better Olympic TV, which sports should be combined? |

Tuesday evening I came to campus because I had read a story online that said there were six crosses erected in front of Cole Hall. I thought NIU would not possibly honor a murderer with a cross so I came to see for myself and thankfully, there were no crosses at Cole. I then went to the King Memorial Commons and there were only five crosses; one for each victim.
Then I remembered that I saw six crosses in front of the Lutheran church on the corner of Normal Road and Lucinda Avenue. So I went into the church and asked why they had six crosses. A kid about 10 years old happily said that it was for [insert murderer’s name.] I then spoke with the woman who runs that church and told her that I was disgusted; that it was disgraceful that they would publicly honor a murderer with a cross and that they should be ashamed of themselves. She came back with the classic line that God loves all his children, which seems contradictory since Lutherans believe in hell and if God loved his children, why would he send them to hell to be punished and tortured for eternity?
Now I am writing this letter to encourage people to boycott that Lutheran church. Anyone that would publicly honor a murderer should be publicly shunned and held in contempt. Do not go to that church. Do not accept anything from them on campus. There are many services being offered on campus by other churches that are not publicly honoring murderers. Use those. By publicly honoring this murderer, that church is giving him exactly what he wanted: To be famous and to be remembered. As a society, we must publicly censure and dishonor murderers; they must be forgotten. Anyone that would publicly honor murderers like that Lutheran church should get the same treatment.
