Sycamore City Council agrees unanimously on three ordinances
By EMILY GOINS

The Sycamore City Council drew their meeting to an early close Monday night after unanimous approvals of three different ordinances.

The first ordinance on the agenda that was approved by the council was regarding the authorization of Mayor Ken Mundy to sign an agreement between the City of Sycamore and the Sycamore Park District. The agreement is based on the understanding that Sycamore will compensate for costs resulting from legal issues for the Park District as to the amount or timing of land or cash contributions.

The council also approved an ordinance regarding a labor contract between Sycamore and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council. The terms of the agreement include a one-year term with a 4 percent increase in wage schedule steps.

The third and final ordinance approved at Monday night’s meeting was in relation to all-night motor vehicle parking. Because parking is prohibited in the Sycamore Center, 308 W. State St., between 2 and 5 a.m. for snow removal and sweeping, the council approved for an amendment to the city code regarding the parking ordinance. The restriction was assumed but it was recently discovered that it had not been codified according to the council agenda.

Also at the meeting, Sycamore Police Chief Don Thomas mentioned the recent violent threats to Sycamore High School. He said the police department has met with the school district to establish preventative measures for the future.
