CRU hosts Virginia Tech visitors

“Hokies for Huskies,” an event sponsored by NIU’s Campus Crusade for Christ, will take place tonight at 9 p.m. in Wirtz Hall.
Some of the 15 students visiting Chicago on their Spring Break from Virginia Tech will make the trip out to DeKalb today to present a banner to the students of NIU showing support from their university.
Free NIU remembrance T-shirts will be given out to anyone who attends.

St. Patrick's Day concert


NIU’s Boutell Memorial Concert Hall will host the Greater Kishwaukee Area Concert Band on Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. “Echoes of Erin” is the title of the performance. The all-volunteer band will play a variety of Irish songs.
The concert is free to all.

* Nominations for the Outstanding Service Award, given to up to four NIU Civil Service employees annually, are due on Friday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at a banquet later this spring. * The University Bookstore will be closed from Monday, March 10, through Wednesday, March 12, for inventory. Regular hours resume Thursday, March 13.

• The deadline to apply for NIU journalism scholarships has been extended to Wednesday, March 19. The application form is available at http://www.comm.niu.edu/fileadmin/application.pdf. Applicants must be journalism majors or minors.

• NIU’s Board of Trustees will meet at 9 a.m. today in Altgeld Hall, Room 315.

• NIU’s Regional History Center/University Archives is looking for any documentation regarding the Feb. 14 tragedy from students, staff or faculty. Submissions can include e-mails, correspondence, poems, official documents, class projects, photographs and videos. For more information, call 815-753-1779.

• Nominations for the fourth annual Ally Awards, presented by the LGBT Resource Center, are due Friday.
