By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

The Northern Illinois University Student Nurses Organization has been recognized by the “Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.”

The organization was named a 2008 Lifesaving Partner for “outstanding achievement and teamwork in raising donation awareness and registrations,” according to the press release.

More than 480 Illinois residents were registered to the Illinois’ organ/tissue donor registry because of the organization’s work.

It was the highest total registrations among the 20 colleges and universities who competed in the 2007 Donate Life Illinois Campus Challenge.
An awards ceremony will take place in Oak Brook on April 24.
