Pi Kappa Alpha emphasizes volunteerism
By LETTER WRITER

To the Greek Community, community service is a vital priority for many chapters.

The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity has always recognized this silent competition of giving back to the community and begun to take it a step further.

During the first two weeks or up to the unfortunate events of the 14th of February, Pi Kappa Alpha gathered over 30 hours of service. Almost all of those hours came from Oakcrest Dekalb Area Retirement Center by working in the activities department.

With this established organization, Pi Kappa Alpha has had great support in volunteering within its member base because the service is highly worthwhile. By keeping these members involved with volunteerism, the Pikes are able to retain positive attitudes in their own lives.

A number of members have said that they feel much better about themselves after serving for a great purpose and also feel that they have a greater understanding for assisted living facilities. Oakcrest Retirement has also mentioned many times that they are grateful for the work that the Pikes are doing.

The occupants of Oakcrest are always enlightened and excited to see young faces helping out with their activities. It is Pi Kappa Alpha’s goal to focus on these volunteer opportunities now and in the future so that the organization’s values positively increase.

Any organizations wishing to apply quality volunteer work, please contact Phillip Nardi 708–408–4421 or Kevin Greco 630–373–4008, Community Service Chairmen of Pi Kappa Alpha.
