NIU may have its own angel in the centerfold.

At least, if one NIU student’s dreams are realized.

Magen Spencer, a junior psychology major, is Playboy magazine’s March Coed of the Month. She appears on the Playboy Web site under the name Magen Lugo, which is her legal name. Spencer said she hopes to become a Playboy Playmate.

“If I could be a Playmate, I definitely would. That is my main goal in this whole thing,” she said. “I am enjoying all of the success so far, but I want to be a Playmate more than anything. As of right now, I’m not going to be in the magazine. Playboy’s Coeds are featured in their Cyber Club, and a little bit on their free site.”

Spencer said the only other time she has posed nude was to take the photographs to send in to Playboy.

Posing for the magazine has always been on her mind.

“I always thought it would be very cool to pose for Playboy. I have always thought that Playboy was classy and tasteful,” she said. “I figure my body won’t always look like this ... so I might as well go for it while I still can, right?”

Spencer said her boyfriend was very supportive of her posing.

“He actually encouraged me to send pictures in when I wasn’t too sure of myself,” she said. “I’m glad he did, too; who knew it would go this far?”

After sending her photographs to Playboy, Spencer was entered in an “Are You Playboy Material?” contest, she said.

“I ended up winning that against a bunch of girls, and they made me a Coed of the Week,” she said. “I came [to Playboy headquarters in Chicago] to do a test photo shoot, and I was told that I won the contest.”

Spencer said she spent about eight hours at each of the photo shoots.

Question of the Day
Did you attend the NIU football game vs. Eastern Michigan University Thursday night?
Yes. Of course.
No, I couldn't make it.
I wish.
I don't even know what a football looks like.
