Nominations for Hall of Fame candidates are open
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Nominations for the Northern Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame are open.
The last day for fans to nominate a former Huskie student-athlete, coach, administrator, trainer or other position related to athletics is April 15.

“As a committee, this is an open process,” said Mike Korcek, NIU Sports Information director emeritus. “We encourage our community, NIU alums, fans and friends to be involved and forward nominations. Everyone’s help is always greatly appreciated.”

The 2008 selection committee is comprised of Cliff Bottigliero, Bill Finucane, Andrea Hein, Donna Martin, Dave Mason, Chuck Morgan, Don Shields, Donald Whiteside and Korcek.

Once selected, the 2008 NIU Athletics Hall of Fame induction class will be enshrined Oct. 17 and recognized Oct. 18 at the halftime of the NIU vs. Toledo football game.

Founded in 1978, the Northern Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame contains 175 individuals and 13 teams from its 26 induction classes. The group is comprised of All–Americans, national champions, professional athletes and other prominent sports–related figures.
