Princeton professor speaks on ‘The State of Black America’
A professor of religion and African-American studies at Princeton University will be on campus today to discuss “The State of Black America.”
Eddie Glaude will begin speaking at 6:30 p.m. in room 112 of the Center for Black Studies.
Glaude has published numerous books, his latest “In A Shade of Blue” in March of 2007.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Black Studies and was rescheduled from Feb. 19 due to the shootings on campus. It was originally a part of Black History Month.

National qualifiers in forensics to speak
NIU Forensics will present its annual “Nationals Showcase” next Wednesday.
Four of the team’s national qualifiers will present thier speeches at 8:45 p.m. in DuSable Hall, Room 148. Junior Mariam Afzal qualified in informative speaking, junior Kerri Simons in persuasive speaking, and seniors Chase Budziak and Brittany Samson in oral interpretation.

Board of Trustees meets today; Registration begins
• The NIU Board of Trustees will meet today at 9 a.m. in Altgeld Hall, Room 315. For more information, call Sharon Banks-Wilkins at 815-753-0833.
• Registration for Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 classes begins at April 7, and is based on the number of credit hours you have. The Northern Star will have more information on how to register for classes using the new myNIU system next week.
