Fights break outside Student Center
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Multiple fights broke outside the Holmes Student Center late Wednesday night, following the Apollo talent show being held in the HSC’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.

Just before midnight Thursday, University Police, DeKalb Police and DeKalb County Sheriff’s police responded to the Huskie Bus turnaround, where the fights occurred.

At least four people were detained, handcuffed and put in police cars. About 10 squad cars and an ambulance showed up at the scene.

A broken pair of sunglasses were found on the ground and blood stains were left on the door outside the HSC’s west entrance.

A K-9 unit also was on scene to assist officers in dispersing the large crowd that gathered outside the HSC.

By 12:10 a.m., police had largely gained control of the situation and officers were urging those on scene to move along.

University Police declined to comment.
