Two huskiers earn top conference honors
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

This week has been good for two NIU athletes.

Gymnast Leah Johnson was named MAC Co–Gymnast of the Week and pitcher Adam Holdenrid was named MAC West Pitcher of the Week.

Johnson won the award for the third time this season by posting an all–around score of 39.125 at the Illinois State Championships. The mark is her best of the season. It was also the second highest posted by a MAC gymnast this season.

At the meet, Johnson took third on the vault, tied for second place on the floor exercise and had a season high on the balance beam.

Holdenrid received the award after pitching a complete game against Buffalo.

In his first career complete game, the senior gave up three hits, one walk and one earned run.

So far this season, Holdenrid is 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA in four starts and has 21 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.
