Juvenile arrested for breaking into cars
By ALAN EDRINN

A 15-year-old DeKalb juvenile was arrested Tuesday evening after a witness allegedly saw the juvenile breaking into his car.

At 10:18 p.m., DeKalb Police were called to the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway after an individual saw someone break into his car. Police arrived, found a suspect in the area who matched the description and arrested him after a short foot chase, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.

Following the path the juvenile ran, police found stolen property from other car burglaries; the juvenile is being charged for two burglaries, Spangler said.

Four burglaries to vehicles were reported in the area around the same time frame. It is believed the juvenile dropped property as he was running from police, and other stolen property he might have planned on returning to retrieve, Spangler said.

Cannabis was found on the juvenile, and the juvenile had an active warrant for failure to appear for a criminal damage charge. He was later transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center and retained by a judge Wednesday.

The juvenile is charged with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of cannabis.
