After having its home opener canceled, the NIU softball team will hit the road.

The Huskies will attempt to end their 13–game losing streak against Western Michigan.

NIU (5-15 overall, 0-2 MAC) will take the field Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon against the Broncos (9-8, 1-1).

With a struggling offense, the Huskies will look to senior Michelle Nendza to spark the team. NIU has scored only four runs in its last six games.

Nenzda is leading NIU with a .370 batting average, six home runs, and 14 RBIs. The senior’s .741 slugging percentage is the best in the MAC.

NIU will also rely on strong pitching from Kate Greenough. The sophomore leads the pitching staff with a 3.69 ERA, four complete games and 39 strikeouts in 53.2 innings pitched.
