NIU student charged with DUI after rollover
By ALAN EDRINN

An NIU student is charged with driving under the influence following a rollover accident Monday afternoon.

At 1:19 p.m., Andrew Navarro, 21, of DeKalb, was driving eastbound in the 200 block of West Bethany Road when he lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch on the side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over several times, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.

A witness then saw the driver leave the area on foot. He was later found in the nearby River Mist subdivision and arrested, Spangler said.

Navarro was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for minor injuries.

He is charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage.
