Track of the Day: 'Look What They've Done to My Song' by Melanie
By KEITH CAMERON

Before Billy Joel wrote “The Entertainer,” before Roger Waters sat on “The Wall,” Melanie wrote the song about the song.

“Look What They’ve Done to My Song,” is the theme for the down-trodden and compromised. Sometimes “the only thing” you can “do half right” is “turning out all wrong,” but you don’t have a solution, so go talk to “Ma” about your song.

If your brain’s been picked “like a chicken bone,” run to a “good book” so you won’t “have to come out and look” at what they did to Melanie’s song. And as she ends in French lyrics, try not to sing “Que Sera, Sera.”
