Track of the Day: 'Lovely Day' by Donovan Frankenreiter

The past weekend, DeKalb finally saw a hint of the spring we have been anxiously waiting for. As temperatures rise and flowers start to bloom, put on the song, “Lovely Day” by Donovan Frankenreiter. It is one of those songs that just gets people in the mood for warm weather.

The bright and bouncy lyrics not only describe a beautiful day, but they also describe the feelings between two young lovers as they start their relationship. This could make the song corny or slightly over-the-top. However, its cheerful melody keeps things light and fun, not overly sappy.

It is about time that we were pulled out of our seasonal depression, so let this song remind us to get off our rumps and out the door.

“It’s gonna be a lovely day!”
