Officer helped letter writer get help

It seems as if many people are annoyed with University Police after Feb. 14, 2008. I must say that my one and only experience with them was a very positive one. I was at Lincoln residence halls, until 3 or 4 a.m.; my cell phone was not working and I needed to call Late Night Ride for a ride home. I asked the officer, who was at the doors, if I could use the phone in the lobby. He told me it did not work and used his cell phone to call Late Night Ride for me. I understand that his job was to check IDs and only to check IDs; however, he took the time to help me get a ride home – which was not something he had to do. I did not have the chance to thank him that night; hopefully, he will read this, and I will say it now: Thank you.
