Track of the Day: 'Deceptacon' by Le Tigre

Bikini Kill was a great riot grrrl act that ended too soon. Le Tigre picked up right where Bikini Kill left off.

Explaining Le Tigre is a difficult task, but the best attempt would have to be a combination of punk, electronica and indie rock.

“Deceptacon” is a perfect example of what makes Le Tigre so enthralling. The beat pulses and the vocals claw at your ears in a whirlwind of angst and pent-up sexual energy. The driving melodies would make this song a party essential, but the energy makes the listener want to start a riot instead of dancing.

There is something about riot grrrl that just gets people going, depending on when or where they listen to it. “Deceptacon” would be the perfect jam to throw on to get the week started.

From the album “Le Tigre” (1999).
