What are your feelings about Mike Myers' new movie, "The Love Guru"? |

Mr. Scarabello, have you ever actually attended a Major League Baseball game? I’ve been to Wrigley Field many times since the 2004 incident of which you spoke, and I can honestly say I have never seen any stray pieces of concrete falling down to crush an unknowing fan.
Why, oh why must you bring up the Bartman incident? Any true Cubs fan will admit that while Bartman broke universal baseball fan law by reaching into the playing field, it was NOT that one play that caused our boys to lose the 2003 NL Championship.
According to the Baseball Almanac, the Chicago Cubs recorded an average game attendance of 40,153 fans and a season total attendance of 3,252,462 fans, beating the NL average by 496,078. If you actually watched a game, you would notice the significant presence of children, teenagers and young adults, all fitting into the youthful and casual baseball fan category.
Finally, correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the point of attending a baseball game was to...um...watch a baseball game? If you want to take your kids swimming or to the batting cages, then by all means do so, but why not take them to a traditional ballpark to watch a true American sport be played.
Baseball is a sport with a rich American history, and an excellent way to involve children in the rich history of our country and our society.
So we haven’t won a World Series in 99 seasons, oh well. However, I’ll take a hot dog smothered in mustard, an overpriced beer, and the risk of concrete falling on my head over a cold, boring trip to “the Cell” any day.
