Virginia Tech instructor thanks NIU for support
By LETTER WRITER

I am a faculty member at Virginia Tech and wanted to say thank you. My husband and I were leaving our student center early yesterday evening, and there at the curb was a big NIU bus.

Most of the people on the sidewalk were wearing VT clothing and I wondered, “Where are the NIU people?”

We stopped to talk with three wonderful women from your university, wearing our colors, who had traveled with others all the way to Blacksburg to support us on our Day of Remembrance and attend our candlelight ceremony.

I was deeply touched by the sacrifices they had made to be with us on that solemn day. We talked and hugged and cried a bit and parted as friends.

The bond that we share is not one we would ever have wished for, but yet sharing that bond will help both of us to find ways to heal.

I wish you peace.
