Police: Two teens steal police car bumper to use as bed post
By ALAN EDRINN

A police car’s bumper almost became a new bedpost.

James Wesley, 17, of Sycamore, and Jessica Snow, 17, of Elburn, were arrested after allegedly stealing a bumper off a squad car, police say.

At 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, a citizen reported seeing Wesley and Snow remove the bumper of a squad car from the DeKalb County Highway Department Building, 1826 Barber Greene Road.

The two were seen placing the bumper in a vehicle and leaving the scene. Police later located and stopped the vehicle and arrested Wesley and Snow. They were both charged with theft of government property – a Class 4 felony – and taken to DeKalb County Jail.

DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott said the squad car had previously been involved in an accident three years ago.

Wesley and Snow told police they were going to use the bumper as a bed post.
