Student robbed near campus
By ALAN EDRINN

An NIU student was robbed early Friday morning, according to police.

At 4:46 a.m., the student was reportedly walking in the 800 block of North Annie Glidden Road when he was approached by three suspects who threw him to the ground, police say. The suspects then allegedly took the victim’s property and ran from the scene.

The suspects implied they had a weapon, but the victim did not claim to see any weapon, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.

The student was not injured in the robbery, and did not require medical attention, Spangler said.
The suspects are described as three black males. One of the suspects was reportedly wearing a black shirt, black pants and had short hair.

The second suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweater. No description was available for the third suspect.

Spangler said the case is being investigated, and the police have “decent leads” into tracing the stolen property.
