Track of the Day: 'Stand By Your Man' by The Blues Brothers
By BEN BURR

‘Stand By Your Man’ - The Blues Brothers

Many vocalists have sung ‘Stand By Your Man,’ from Tammy Wynette to Carrie Underwood, often with considerably more “oomph” than Jake and Elwood did.

But the Bros connect with this country standard in a way no female could: There’s an unmistakable humility in the song, and in today’s girlpower, women’s equality world, ladies shouldn’t have to make excuses for their fellas.

So it’s particularly appropriate for the well-meaning but mistake-prone Blues Brothers to deliver today’s track, “Stand By Your Man.” A man may not be perfect, but have some forgiveness; after all, he’s just a man.
