By ALAN EDRINN

Police arrested a DeKalb man in connection with gang graffiti found on two businesses April 8 in the 1200 block of East Lincoln Highway.

On Thursday, DeKalb Police arrested Ryan W. Alamia, 23, of DeKalb and charged him with criminal damage to the property for allegedly spray-painting gang graffiti on the side walls of two businesses.

At about 5 a.m. April 8, the front of the DeKalb Moose Lodge, 1231 E. Lincoln Highway, and the Elegant Marble House, 1209 E. Lincoln Highway, and a nearby truck were found covered in gang graffiti. The estimated damage to one building is in excess of $2,000, according to a DeKalb Police Department press release.

Sgt. Bob Redel of the DeKalb Police Department said Alamia is suspected through interviews in the investigation, and the name “Ryan” was on the gang graffiti.

Alamia is also charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery following a domestic fight with his girlfriend, Redel said. He was also arrested for a DeKalb County warrant.
