Two men robbed at University Village
By ALAN EDRINN

Two DeKalb residents were robbed Sunday morning in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road.

At 2:20 a.m., two males were walking through University Village, 732 Annie Glidden Road, when a group of three males and two females approached them and asked them for a cigarette and lighter. The suspects then demanded money from the two males and threw one to the ground, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department. The victims gave the suspects property, and the group ran from the area, Spangler said. The females in the group did no participate in the robbery.

One male is described as wearing a “graphic” T-shirt and jeans.

Spangler said the number of attackers is the same as previous robberies, but that alone is not enough to draw a connection.

“It is common for the offenders to be in groups, but it is somewhat uncommon for people to be along with the offenders unless they are actively participating,” Spangler said. “We don’t know the motivation or the planning part or if they just happened to be walking in the same area.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the DeKalb Police at 815-748-8400.
