Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to Ted McCarron’s letter published May 1.
First of all, I think Ted McCarron needs to be reminded of Ronald’s Reagan’s 11th Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican. I am tired of the few people such as Mr. McCarron who constantly insist on tearing apart the Republican Party from within because not everyone shares their exact same opinion on every issue. The Republican Party is a big party, incorporating many interests. One of the great successes of the Republican Party is its ability to bring together so many people of differing interests. Ronald Reagan and George W.
Bush were successful based on their abilities to draw in all the major facets of the party: economic conservatives, social conservatives and national security conservatives.
Second of all, Mr. McCarron needs to quit spreading lies and assumptions, such as his claim that the NIU College Republicans are run by RINOs (Republican-in-name-only). As the first vice chairman of the organization, I must say this couldn’t be further from the truth, as I and my fellow members are conservative on so many different levels. This just demonstrates how out-of-touch Mr. McCarron is. How does he dare accuse us of being RINOs when I don’t even think he’s had a serious political discussion with any of the current leaders or members of the organization?
Andrew Bogda
Junior, geography
First vice chairman, NIU College Republicans
