Strong to severe weather systems approaching area
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

NIU staff meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste issued a weather alert this afternoon regarding possible thunderstorms moving through the DeKalb area.

Gusty winds up to 50 mph as well as hail up to a dime in size are expected. Frequent lightning and heavy downpours are being predicted as well.

The storms are expected to move across the area through 7 p.m. tonight.
