Ambulance shooting victim in stable condition
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Recent NIU graduate Patrick Bierman, 23, of Steeleville, Mo. is in stable condition Friday after suffering gunshot wounds this past Monday.

Bierman, an emergency medical technician for MedStar, was transporting a man who had been shot in East St. Louis to a local hospital when a car came up beside the ambulance and an individual fired seven shots into the ambulance.

Police believe the gunman was trying to stop the ambulance from reaching the hospital.

No arrests have been made in either case thus far.

Bierman graduated from NIU on Saturday.
